Collection of the list of extinct and endangered species of Lithuania was started in 1959 and the current version (2003) contains 815 species: 23 mammals, 75 birds, 128 insects, 224 flowering plants, 199 fungi and lichen.
Pupils of Vilnius Pranas Masiotas primary school were given a task to open Lithuanian Red Data Book and find out what species are vulnerable to extinction. They had to choose one, make a model of it and write a short description of their work.
